Three Yountville seats up for election as nomination period opens

The nomination period for Yountville’s November 2026 municipal election opened July 13 and is now underway with three elected offices on the ballot: the mayor’s seat, currently held by Margie Mohler, and two town council seats currently held by Robin McKee and Hillery Trippe.

According to Town Clerk Hilary Gaede, candidate filing documents are not all immediately available for public inspection. The FPPC Form 501 (Candidate Intention Statement) becomes a public record upon filing. Candidate statements and nomination papers, however, remain confidential until a candidate’s eligibility has been verified.

“Once a prospective candidate has completed the filing process and their eligibility has been verified, the remaining candidate filing documents will become public records. At that time, they will be posted to the town’s elections webpage and placed in a public viewing binder at the front counter of Town Hall,” she said.

As of press time, Gaede reported that no FPPC Form 501s had been filed.

She also confirmed that there is no filing fee to run for office, adding that the Town Council previously adopted a policy to absorb election-related filing costs in an effort to eliminate potential financial barriers for prospective candidates.

The nomination period remains open through Aug. 7 unless extended under California election law.

A short YouTube video titled “Election Season,” explains the nomination process. The filing documents will be posted on the Town of Yountville Elections webpage.

The Yountville Sun will continue to monitor candidate filings, announcements and election developments throughout the nomination period.
