Town Council approves Entertainment Zone; project updates shared
The Aug. 19 Town Council meeting may have been one of the shortest on record, as the council quickly approved all consent calendar items without public comment. Among these approvals was the establishment of Yountville’s new Entertainment Zone, which will take effect in 30 days. The designation allows open-container alcohol consumption within the zone, covering all of Washington Street.
Yountville Commons timeline
Town Manager Brad Raulston shared next steps for the Yountville Commons project and emphasized opportunities for community involvement. The process begins with a presentation to the ZDRB on Sept. 9 at 5:30 p.m., followed by an open house on Sept. 10, where residents can review the latest updates in person. In addition, Brandan Kelly will again host open appointments for those seeking more in-depth discussions, stay tuned for further details.
A presentation is also scheduled for the Town Council meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at 1 p.m. Raulston noted it is not yet clear whether action items regarding the development will be on the regular 3 p.m. meeting agenda. The official agenda will be published on Sept. 12.
Public Works updates
Public Works Director John Ferrons provided updates on several ongoing projects in town. The most visible is the street work and paving project along the north half of Washington Street. To minimize traffic disruptions, paving is scheduled for the night of Sept. 8. Webber Street will also be repaved, and residents have already received notification letters with the schedule.
Ferrons also addressed the large trucks recently seen on Finnell Road, noting they are part of storm drainage maintenance ahead of winter. Crews are clearing rocks, gravel and other debris from storm drains before flushing them out. Once that work is complete, they will move on to the culvert that connects Washington Street, passes under Hotel Yountville, and flows into Hopper Creek.
