Letter to the Editor: Veteran urges CalVet to reopen Lincoln Theater

Sun Letters to the Editor Graphic

Dear Editor,

Since the administration and CalVet place no value on the Lincoln Theater, at least they could donate it to the community.

The Lincoln Theater, a world-class venue with pitch-perfect acoustics, has hosted famous acts such as Tim McGraw. We at the Veterans Home want to pave the way for its return.

However, the administration appears committed to “decline by design.” First, stop using it as a junk room. If it’s available to workmen for building shelves, then it must be ready for veterans to use as a meeting room and more!

The next step is to craft a lease that attracts investors. Other leases for state-owned property are for 20 to 30 years or longer. The biggest hurdle is to convince CalVet. That is where we need your help. The veterans appreciate the growing wave of interest and letters. Let’s send the email message to our legislative representatives and CalVet.

No more bad acoustics in Grant Hall. OPEN THE LINCOLN THEATER.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth Stewart
