The Sun rises!
Here comes the Sun: We are delighted to share the news that we are restarting the Sun, beginning with this issue, in both print and digital versions. We are planning on publishing in print every two weeks with the hope that we can build enough support from advertisers, subscribers and donors to move back to a weekly print and digital publication.
Due in large part to the good work of Debbie Lorrell, our ace advertising lead here in Yountville, we were able to keep most of the existing advertisers, bring in a couple of new ones and align them with a two-week schedule. To keep the Sun shining we need community support in other areas. These are:
- Support the Sun advertisers! They have been the primary source of support for the Sun since its inception.
- Subscribe. We have reached just 50% of our paid subscription goal. At minimum we need 20% of Yountville’s population as paid subscribers. Please subscribe! It is a truly a terrific deal at just $75 for an annual print and digital subscription. Compared to the prices of other publications in Napa Valley – this is a real bargain! There is a coupon for subscriptions in the Sun if you want to send in a check, or go to https://yountvillesun.com/ and click on the Subscribe & Support button at the top right side of the home page. We are regularly posting news on the site now too – so please visit regularly. We welcome any feedback, input and story ideas.
- Please Donate. The Sun, like more and more newspapers around the country, can only survive with tax-deductable donations. Please go to the Napa Valley News Group site to make a tax-deductible donation.
- Sponsor the free distribution to the Veterans Home. We print and distribute more than 450 copies of the Sun to the Veterans Home. We believe this is an important service to our veterans, who are an important part of the Yountville community. The monthly cost to do this is $2,000. We’d like to find a sponsor for this vital service. We’ll need to find a sponsor for this by May so we can continue this service to the veterans. We’ll gladly thank the sponsor in print and online in the Sun!
Other important and exciting initiatives to share. The Napa Valley News Group, parent of the Sun, has launched a Napa County news website – the Napa County Times (www.napacountytimes.com), which features countywide news and stories of interest, as well as specific sections for Yountville and other communities in our region.
