Napa County Sheriff Sgt. James Baumgartner reports that on Jan. 10 at about 9:40 a.m., deputies responded to a report of an assault and traffic accident in the 6500 block of Oak Leaf Court.  While enroute, deputies learned that the suspect had fled the scene and witnesses provided dispatch with a vehicle description. While conducting an area check in Yountville for the suspect, deputies soon located a vehicle matching the description. Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and contacted the driver identified as 33-year-old, Lucaz Solis of Yountville.

At the scene of the crash, deputies learned that following the collision with a parked car, the suspect physically assaulted a witness and then fled the area. Medics responded to the scene, where they treated and released the victim for his injuries. After collecting evidence and statements, Solis was arrested for vehicle hit and run, driving under the influence and physical elder abuse.

Solis was transported to the Napa Department of Corrections where he was booked on the above charges. His bail was set at $50,000 and as of Monday, Jan. 12, he remained in custody.  The case has been sent to the Napa DA’s office for review and prosecution.
