A Yountville Moment: Postmaster Vasquez is a lifesaving hero

Erik Vasquez is the postmaster in Yountville’s local post office. He took one of his driver’s routes last week through Bella Vista park. While delivering on Sherry Circle, he spotted smoke coming out of one of the homes. He knocked on the door and got no answer. So he ran to a neighbor to get help and to call 911. What turned out to be smoke was a fire in the kitchen and the smoke alarms were blaring. Other neighbors searched the house for the owner who is hearing impaired, while Erik put out the fire and suffered a slightly burned hand. The owner of the home is fine, but there is fire and smoke damage to the structure.

Thanks to Erik for spotting the smoke and taking quick action, which otherwise may have gone unnoticed until too late
