Weeks 19 and 20: Bellringer Bonanza
Sept. 1 – Monday night teams had the evening off for Labor Day.
Sept. 3 – Wednesday drew 13 teams and plenty of winners. Carol Shirmang and Don Olvarado, Jim and Marianne Lyon, Steve and Karen Zanetell, and Robin McKee-Cant and Julie Worthington swept their matches, earning 24 points each. Steve Rogers and Marco Wright followed with 22 points. Bellringers came from Marianne Lyon and Steve Zanetell. Last year’s champion, Guido Muratori, was sidelined after a bicycle crash on his way to the courts. The club wishes him a full recovery.
Sept. 4 – Thursday’s eight teams enjoyed quick play. Kim Richard and Jeff Brown and Mike Muters and Stella Williams were undefeated, while Gregg and Robin Beach finished close behind with 22 points. Bellringers were scored by Dana Dellascio, Ernie Cabral, and Carolyn Brown.
Sept. 8 – Monday had a light turnout with eight teams, but bellringers were everywhere. Sharron O’Neill and Priscilla Hegner won all three matches, moving into the season’s top six scorers. Bellringers came from Lilette Tyler, Carol Thistlewaite, Cheryl Grigsby, Rosella Giuliani, Chaz Ainsworth, Debbie Stack, Priscilla Hegner and Sharron O’Neill—possibly a record!
Sept. 10 – Wednesday was again the busiest night with 12 teams. Steve Rogers and Marco Wright led with 24 points, while Julie Worthington and Pam Williams followed with 23. Joel and Sherry Breitigam held their own with 19 points. Bellringers came from Sherry Breitigam, Lisa Whitham, Julie Worthington, Pam Williams, and Marco Wright.
Sept. 11 – Thursday fielded eight teams. Mike Muters and Rob Stout went undefeated, while Bob and Renee Garske and Jim and Dawn Conley followed with 22 points. Bellringers came from Jeff Brown, Carolyn Brown, Jeff Hartung, and Mike Muters.
The race to the Champion’s Tournament continues with just two weeks left. Court managers will confirm top scorers for the ladder. Not in the top five? You still have a shot in the Wild Card Shootout. Show up early to sign up; the shootout can field 16 players.
