Grape crushers shed boots to stomp in wine barrels

A neighborly event for locals and veterans held earlier this week took on a very countrified vibe. With an emphasis on “country” in wine country, western boots, hats and bandanas dotted the crowd of some 200 attendees at The Pavilion at The Estate Yountville. The live music provided by Locked-n-Loaded, a Sacramento-based country cover band, was a fitting backdrop for the evening hosted by Gary Jabara. A highlight, however, was the grape stomp. Teams of stompers shed their boots to hop into wine barrels filled with grape clusters, to rapidly crush prized Napa Valley fruit with bare feet!
