Letter to Editor: Vote for transparent, collaborative leadership
Dear Editor,
The best candidates for the two councilmember seats on the ballot this November are Hillery Trippe and Jill Turner. I applaud these residents for their willingness to serve the town I was honored to lead as mayor for 12 years.
You don’t have to cross your fingers and hope for a cohesive, effective town council after Nov. 3 when you can see it and hear it developing between these individuals today as they share their priorities and ideas for moving Yountville forward and learn about how they will complement each other on the governing body.
Incumbent Councilmember Trippe has exhibited respect, fortitude and dedication to her role as a public servant even when she was marginalized for challenging processes and decisions made by her colleagues. She is the only member of the council running for reelection to represent the significant number of residents and business owners opposed to the flawed Commons housing development project.
Jill Turner’s professional experience in business development and communications, combined with a focus on fiscal responsibility and accountability, have prepared her to take a leadership role helping shape a long-term vision for Yountville. Jill’s consistent attendance and engagement at council meetings have shown her passion, intelligence and the priorities she will bring to her public service.
Their shared commitment to serving in a respectful, collaborative way already is on display as Hillery and Jill engage with residents and business leaders – often with each other and alongside top mayoral candidate Joe Tagliaboschi.
You can and should expect your public servants to provide honorable and trustworthy leadership, a willingness to listen and accept feedback, as well as fair and transparent decision-making. That is how Hillery Trippe and Jill Turner will serve the Yountville community and why they are worthy of your support and your vote.
