Letter to the Editor: Collaboration is key to Yountville’s next chapter

Dear Editor,
It has been my privilege to get to know Robin McKee over the past four years she has spent as a councilmember. During her tenure she has consistently shown her willingness to collaborate with the community and her fellow councilmembers. She brings an extraordinary amount of knowledge and experience to her duties, and this is joined by compassion and empathy for issues that face our residents. This especially shows up in how she balances the practical challenges of our business community with the needs and values of our permanent residents (including our veterans). The benefits of TOT revenue cannot be understated, but past mayors and councils focused too much on meeting the business community’s needs over that of our residents. Our current mayor and council has brought this into a much better balance.
Our community is nearing a dangerous point on housing. In only a few years the State of California can strip any control over our destiny from us and put that into the hands of developers. We no longer have time to start over, nor to start over with new councilmembers and a mayor that need to educate themselves on a complex issue. Let’s work with what we’ve already discovered and find an agreement.
Robin serves on the NV board of the Transit Authority, the NV Tourism Corporation, the Tourist Improvement District, the Napa County Commission on Aging and more. Experience matters now. It’s time to re-elect Robin McKee.
