Letter to the Editor – Reunion with a “Gray Lady” who never lost her curiosity

Dear Editor,

I had a reunion with an old friend Sunday morning.  I hadn’t seen her in more than a decade. She left due to circulation problems which couldn’t be resolved locally. Those problems have resolved now, and she said she would drop by my house in the morning, and we could spend the day together.

I was delighted because she is so full of knowledge of all kinds. I never know exactly what to expect, and she delivered right away, telling an offbeat story about the trials and tribulations of Nigerian women who write erotica.

Although she is way up in years now, this gray lady hasn’t changed very much during her absence. Her curiosity remains enormous. I told her all about what is going on here in Yountville, and she let me know what is going on all over the planet. I don’t know what she sees in me, but I guess it is my willingness to absorb all sorts of information.

She stayed until after dark and told me she would see me again next Sunday morning, and could we please have a chocolate croissant. I agreed and said, “Goodnight,” to the New York Times.

She is now available delivered to thy driveway on Sunday mornings for $5 per issue.
