Letter to the Editor: We need a mayor that listens to residents, leads with experience

Sun Letters to the Editor Graphic

Dear Editor,

I am writing in support of Joe Tagliaboschi for mayor of Yountville.

What stands out to me about Joe is that his commitment to this town is not new, and it did not begin with this election. He has lived here for decades, served our country in the U.S. Navy, led Yountville’s Public Works Department, served on the Town Council, and remained actively involved in our community.

But résumés only tell part of the story.

Over the past several months, I have had the opportunity to spend more time with Joe, listen to him, and watch how he interacts with people throughout Yountville. He listens. He shows up. He understands how the town actually works, and he genuinely cares about the people who live here.

Yountville is a small town facing some important decisions about its future. One of those is housing, and I appreciate Joe’s commitment to exploring practical ways to expand workforce and affordable housing for the people who help make Yountville the community it is.

We need leadership that understands what makes this town special while recognizing that good government requires transparency, sound judgment, fiscal responsibility and a willingness to listen to residents — even when people disagree.

Joe brings something particularly valuable to the job: institutional knowledge combined with a practical understanding of how decisions made at Town Hall affect residents, employees, and businesses in the real world.

I also appreciate that Joe is approachable. You can ask him a question, disagree with him, or bring him a concern, and he will engage with you.

For me, this election is about the kind of leadership I want to see in Yountville for the next four years: accessible, experienced, thoughtful and deeply connected to this community.

That is why I support Joe Tagliaboschi for mayor.
