Public records detail Raulston’s resignation, $150,381 severance
The Yountville Sun has acquired public documents that detail the resignation and severance agreement of former Yountville Town Manager Brad Raulston.
The reason for Raulston’s departure was announced in a press release by the Town of Yountville on April 29, which stated, “Raulston has decided to care for his wife and make way for a leadership transition in the town manager position.”
In his resignation letter, Raulston wrote on behalf of his wife, “The reasons for our departure include health concerns for Elisa following the car accident last year and recent political and process challenges related to the Yountville Commons.”
Raulston is on administrative leave, believed to be paid, through Aug. 31. In the resignation agreement and release of claims signed by Raulston, Yountville Mayor Margie Mohler and Yountville Town Attorney Gary Bell on May 20, the town also agreed to pay him a severance payment equivalent to six months of monthly salary, which totaled $150,380.96.
The Yountville Sun reached out via email to Bell, the town attorney asking if Raulston was paid his salary starting April 29 and has continued to be paid ending Aug. 31, in addition to the severance package equal to six months of his salary. The Sun also inquired as to who approved of and signed off on the administrative leave and the severance package. Bell has not responded.
According to the Resignation Agreement, Raulston was hired by the Town of Yountville on June 30, 2023. He had previously been a city manager in National City near San Diego. The “Voice of San Diego” reported on April 6, 2023 that Raulston was going on administrative leave following a closed session review of his performance following a contentious environment during his time as city manager, including attempts to terminate his employment.
