What’s happening to the road in front of Ciccio and Pancha’s?
Orange cones and a construction zone have become the norm in front of Ciccio restaurant and the under-renovation at Pancha’s bar on northern Washington Street near Madison Street in Yountville.
Yountville Town Manager Brand Raulston and Public Works Director John Ferons clarified the project via email.

Washington Street in that area is being reconfigured for two reasons. It was already planned that the streets would be repaved this summer, which “provides an opportunity to revisit the cross-section for safety and traffic flow,” Raulston said.
In addition, he added, “The Pancha’s permit came forward, and we agreed it would be an improvement for them, and Ciccio would also benefit to have a real sidewalk and additional outdoor space for the business.”
The center turn lane is being eliminated, which allowed about 12 feet of additional space to create a five-foot sidewalk and seven-foot outdoor patio space. There will be space for parking, but the time limits and curb colors are being decided as the best access and hours for commercial deliveries are determined.
Raulston and Ferons say that there will definitely be better pedestrian access with a dedicated sidewalk.
According to Raulston, while the improvements were a condition of Pancha’s permit, the town of Yountville is funding the project since there is Measure T/U Road Fund money available and eligible. He said that town constructing it ensures that it will tie into the paving project, which was awarded at a recent Town Council meeting and will be complete by fall.
The final touches of the project will be striping, a new bus stop shelter and landscaping. “Both Ciccio and Pancha’s will need a Washington Street activation permit to use the outdoor public right of way, which we are working on with both of them.”
