Three people killed in three-vehicle crash on Silverado Trail
Three people died Saturday in a three-vehicle collision on Silverado Trail near Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars, according to the California Highway Patrol, who said one driver has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of an unspecified drug.
Around noon, a Mitsubishi sedan driven by William Dene Brumley, 68, of Vallejo, was heading south on the Silverado Trail when it sideswiped a BMW SUV traveling in the opposite direction, north of Oak Knoll Avenue. The collision caused the Mitsubishi to crash into a Toyota sedan traveling behind the BMW.
Brumley was transported to Adventist Health St Helena, where he was arrested. He was then transported to Providence Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. He is expected to survive.
The two passengers in the Mitsubishi died; the passenger in the back seat was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger in the front seat was transported to Queen of the Valley Medical Center, where she later died, according to the CHP.
The driver of the Toyota and three passengers were transported to Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center with major injuries, according to the CHP. A passenger seated in the right-rear seat of the Toyota was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the BMW and a passenger complained of pain, but it was unclear if or where they were hospitalized.
Silverado Trail was closed between Oak Knoll and Yountville Cross Road in both directions until 6 p.m., and the public was asked to avoid the area, according to the Napa County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash is under investigation.
