Step inside Katherine Zimmer’s vivid PhotoArt World at Opening Night of Yountville Arts Spring Exhibition

Northern California photographer Katherine Zimmer, a self-taught artist known for vivid, reality-bending imagery, will be featured this spring at the Steve Rogers Gallery at the Yountville Community Center as part of the 2026 Yountville Art, Sip & Stroll.
Zimmer’s solo exhibition, “In the Middle of Somewhere,” opens tonight and runs through June 18, featuring a body of work formed by decades of travel and experimentation. Her photography blends architecture, landscapes and candid portraits with color and textured, often gritty compositions, an approach influenced by early interests in avant-garde artists who questioned traditional realism.
Zimmer began her creative path in the early 1990s after purchasing her first camera, using travel as both subject and inspiration. Over time, she refined her creative voice and more fully committed to her art, supported by local mentors and the Napa Valley arts community.
“We are pleased to welcome Katherine to the Steve Rogers Gallery and equally excited to present her solo exhibition to our community,” said Ronda Schaer, chair of Yountville Arts. “Her work reflects both insight and artistry guided by a thoughtful intuition that resonates throughout each image.”
Having exhibited throughout the Bay Area and in Los Angeles, Zimmer has been a regular participant in Yountville Arts programming, including past Art, Sip & Stroll events. This year, she is the featured artist for the annual celebration on Saturday, May 16.
Zimmer’s exhibition will include a range of photographic styles, from street scenes and travel imagery to landscapes, reflections and collage work.
A free opening reception is set for Thursday, April 9, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Steve Rogers Gallery, 6516 Washington St. The exhibition is also free and open to the public during regular gallery hours, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with evenings and Sundays available by appointment.
The Yountville Arts Commission hosts up to six exhibitions annually to showcase the power of art through a mix of local, regional and internationally recognized artists.
